We have been busy in the studio and have some awesome pieces that we want to share with you. Enjoy!
Rustic Sterling Silver Compass Necklace
This piece for me is all about keeping a “guiding star” talisman close to heart. Something that reminds us of our true north. Whether that’s a person, place, belief, goal, or anything that keeps us growing and moving forward on our individual journeys, it’s meant to be a small reminder of that. I personally like to wear jewelry that helps me stay focused on what’s important to me and what’s true for me.
I wanted it to have a very rustic old world feeling about it, as though it’s a piece of bullion or an ancient compass artifact. I felt it was important to acknowledge the human history of journey and self discovery, and I also wanted it, for the wearer, to feel as though it was always there with them and always would be there, as a steady and steadfast companion. -Klee
This piece symbolizes the two sides of empowerment. The fierce and tender nature of someone who takes fate and destiny into their own hands. The butterfly symbolizes cause and effect. The sword symbolizes the knowledge that she can overcome any obstacle that is in her way.
In my mind it is important to maintain that balance. To know that you are truly powerful, you understand that it is all about giving. One who has true power, will always defend and show love. Powerlessness and insecurity is where displays of power come in. -Rafi
Valentine’s Day is coming! Whether you are shopping to spoil those you love, want to splurge on yourself, or don’t believe in celebrating a hallmark holiday, the lead-up to Valentine’s Day is rife with sales and specials.
You’ll find everything from free desserts to naughty items, and it can be a whole bunch of fun. I personally like the idea of taking a day to remember the people you love most and celebrate that love.
Klee has designed something special for this 2019 Valentines day. It’s on sale for 20% OFF until February 10th 2019.
The symbol of the open heart is as timeless as it is cherished. Representing love in all of it’s various incarnations: romantic, family, friendship, passion for life… it reminds us to keep our hearts open and to give and receive love to the world around us. This pendant necklace is a beautiful and simple representation of a universal and powerful symbol.
I start with solid 12 gauge sterling silver which gets hammer formed, soldered and shaped completely by hand into a beautiful and unique open heart with it’s own rustic texture, no two are ever the same. After the hammer forming, it gets meticulously refined, filed and polished by hand, to ensure that it is beautiful and long lasting. Finally it is placed free floating on your choice of chain for her or cord for him to complete the design.
This necklace is made to order and each one is unique, just like your love.
-Hand formed solid sterling silver rustic heart pendant with hammer texture. -Heart pendant measures 25mm (1″) across when measuring from the top of each arch to the opposite flat side. (please expect very slight variations as these are hand forged). -Stamped on backside with .925 sterling stamp. -Free floating setting allows the heart to move freely on the chain or cord and flip around.
The rustic free floating heart is my representation of unconditional love. It is not tethered or restrained. It is kept close, but free to move as it will. It can be sometimes rough-hewn and even bumpy at times… but it is real, tangible, textural, unique and beautiful.
Happy Valentine’s Day from both of us! Although we try and celebrate the people we love daily, it’s nice to have an excuse to announce it to you! We love you!
That time of year is upon us where we desperately try to remember what the people who are near and dear to us would like in their stocking. In the spirit of the holidays I have compiled a list of our most popular stuff to stuff a stocking with.
These are gifts that are both affordable and meaningful from our collections of fine jewelry and fine art.
PLEASE NOTE: While people are generally overflowing with joy and uncontainable excitement, this season can also cause a bit of stress for us with increased orders and workload or winter storms that can drastically impact delivery times. It is important to us that you get your gifts.
Ok, now that’s out of the way, on to the fun:

It’s that time of year again! When big companies have sales and everyone loses their mind shopping. Usually this time of year is not a big deal for us since we don’t have the advertising budget to promote ball buster deals… which, I’m not even sure I know what that is, or if I got the term right.

Yesterday Klee and I dropped off some of our art for the 25th Anniversary Show at Artel Gallery in downtown Pensacola.
As some of you know, I won ‘Best Of Show’ at the last exhibition with my sculpture. Klee was there with me at the reception, she has always been so supportive. At every reception, she has been there to help me face anything that may come my way and to be my cheerleader.
What makes this particular show super exciting for me is that Klee also has a piece in the show. So we will both be there for the reception on June 14th strutting our stuff and representing our own art. This will give me a chance to show my support for her and her awesome talent.
This event is open to the public, so please join us on June 14th, 6pm at Artel Gallery in Downtown Pensacola.
My submission is Chasing Fairies.
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
In a world where everything is much more serious and complicated than those moments of innocence and wonder we experienced as children, this piece symbolizes the child within all of us that will believe in the impossible. Everything is possible.
Klee’s Submission is “Everlasting Oak” Tree of Life Pendant Necklace.
One of a kind solid 14k gold tree of life necklace on a stunning rectangular cushion cut moss agate stone with genuine blue diamond leaves.
Moss Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. It is clear to milky white, with dendritic inclusions of manganese or iron that has grown into patterns similar to moss or lichen. It has been highly regarded throughout history as a stone of strengthening, stability, healing, balance and abundance.
The oak tree has long been a symbol of strength, endurance, wisdom and nobility, highly revered for it’s size and longevity as well as the abundant gifts it has provided over the centuries. This tree, created in solid gold and blue diamonds, is truly an “Everlasting Oak.”
Diamonds are the most well known symbol of “forever”. The leaves of this tree are genuine conflict free blue diamonds (color enhanced). Their color is a greenish-teal blue that perfectly compliments the mossy inclusions of the agate. 44 of them adorn the branches of this tree, sparkling and shimmering in a truly magical way.
Hope to see you there:

Recently I was presented with an exciting and challenging commission that I could not say no to, even though I was admittedly somewhat reluctant to take it on. Reluctant because, well, it was centered around the largest and most beautiful opal I have ever had the privilege of holding in my hands.
Proposed by two collectors of my work who have not only become good friends of mine over the years, but who continuously support and believe in me as an artist, always pushing me ever further into the realm of “Sure, I think I can do that.” They had purchased an astoundingly gorgeous Australian Lightning Ridge Semi-Black Opal from a local lapidary artist, who is also a friend of mine and an expert at his craft. The cut opal weighed in at 24 carats and measured 34x27mm, originally intended to be cut into two or three separate opals but was too magnificent to be separated into smaller pieces.
Immediately following the purchase of the opal they brought it to me, placed it in my hand and said “You know you’re the one we’re commissioning to make a necklace with this, right?” To which I replied “Uh… sure! Wait… are you sure?? I can’t believe this opal! Yes, sure! I’m honored and terrified to be the one to work with it!” and the commission had begun.
Anyone who has ever owned or held an opal knows that you can break them by just looking at them the wrong way. How can something so pristine, with such a delicate composition, contain so much life and color that it appears to have the very fire of creation itself within it?
Everyone involved, especially me, knew it was going to take some time to create this piece. They wanted it created in solid gold and they wanted something that had never been seen before, something to truly do the opal justice. We bounced ideas back and forth for weeks, some playing it safe, some really outside the box, until we landed on the concept of fire. “Our son mentioned that flames might be awesome, is it doable?” they asked.
I honestly wasn’t sure it was doable, but in the spirit of going with inspired thought, I expanded on the idea and rendered a sketch of layers of flames in yellow, white, and rose gold, and presented it to them (along with a few other “safer” design layouts) to see what they thought. To my excitement and horror, they loved the not safe, totally daunting, tri-tone gold flame layer design. I loved it too. We all knew it was the one. Now I just had to actually make this thing… in solid gold… no pressure.
It could not be rendered in wax and cast, it had to be completely hand fabricated because of the three types of gold that would be used. The flames were so organic in shape, so free flowing that anything other than just jumping in with both feet and going for it would not have produced the desired look. So, I went for it… in sterling silver (I’m not THAT crazy folks!)
I built a prototype piece in sterling silver to make sure that the design actually worked, would protect the opal, and would look as amazing as I hoped it would. It was many hours of successes, setbacks, design tweaks, small challenges, inching forward until the prototype was finished. I presented it to them and they were thrilled with it. Then it was time to make the actual piece in gold.
Thank goodness for the prototype, it allowed me to work everything out beforehand and create a piece in gold that I was beyond happy with. Organic shaped yellow, white, and rose gold flame layers, carefully built section by section to form the back setting for the stone. Rose gold “Flame Petals” as I call them, and yellow and white gold prongs to wrap gingerly around the sides and front of the opal to hold it securely and complete the design.
Once it was built, I set the opal in the design, more slowly and carefully than I’ve ever done anything in my whole life, looked at it, went into slight shock that it was finished, and then screamed joyfully at Rafi that it was completed and I had done it!
Throughout the whole process, I had been referring to the piece as the “Fire Flower” (a working title) to try to describe something that embodies an intense amount of light, passion and fire, and is simultaneously impossibly pristine, serene, and delicate. It described the opal as best as words can, and it described the design of the piece that would complete and represent it. I feel it also describes the beautiful woman it was commissioned for, and there’s a bit of myself represented in there as well. We all resonated with the feeling and the name “Fire Flower” stuck as the official name of the piece.
It was the most challenging and thrilling commission I’ve had thus far, and also the longest running commission, ongoing for about six months from concept to completion. I have to thank my collectors and friends Dina and Kelly, and their son Kyle for the challenge, and the trust that made it possible to create something I would have previously never thought possible.
I am now refining the Sterling silver prototype I had created, in which I will set a Nuummite stone, and will belong to them as well. The silver counterpart to the Fire Flower.
It’s that time of year again where Klee and I spend so much time in our studio, that when we do head out and about, it feels like we are two aliens visiting earth for the first time.

Recently I was asked to create a piece that was unique and quite amazing. It was amazing for three reasons…
Reason 1, I mean, just look at it!
Reason 2, I couldn’t believe that I had never created a piece like this, considering that my wife and partner in crime… (or creation) is a jewelry designer.
Reason 3, It’s just so freaking cool!
Two very amazing individuals who have collected Klee’s jewelry and some of my work approached us with a request.
“We love both of your work and would like to be able to display them together.”
They came by the studio and we spent some time discussing an idea they had. Which, I’m going to just say, they are quite fun and inspiring to hang out with, and there might have been wine involved, although, I think the wine came later… either way, we love those two, and it was fun discussing ideas.
They searched and found the perfect piece of wood for the project, which was really cool, because at that point it became a collaboration between the four of us.
I have to say, I am especially proud of this piece. The fact that my art, Klee’s art, and their ingenuity brought this to life, shows me how powerful unity and creative thinking can be.
As some of you know, I won best artist for 2016 which was so awesome and I can’t thank you enough for making that happen. I’ve gotten to use it as boasting rights well into 2017 with statements like “Oh yeah? Well, were you voted best artist of the coast for 2016? I think not!”
Actually, I don’t do that at all, I get really shy around people that congratulate me for the award, then I secretly try to change the subject.
Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of the accomplishment, and I am so grateful to everyone that voted for me, but I’m a weird bird that is still working on receiving compliments and recognition.
That being said, there are two days left to vote. and I would love for you to vote for Klee and I if you are absolutely in love with our work.
Here’s the thing, we love you whether you vote for us or not, but it would be really cool for you to vote for your favorite peeps regardless if they are us or not.
