The birthstone for April is Diamond, and as a beautiful genuine stone alternative to traditional diamond, Herkimer diamonds are an excellent choice.

Herkimer diamond is known as the “Stone of Attunement” said to bring harmony, clarity, and open flow to it’s surroundings.

Herkimer diamonds are not diamonds, but a variety of earth mined double terminated quartz crystal with natural facets and exceptional clarity. They are found and mined in Herkimer, New York.

For this necklace design, I’ve chosen a beautiful genuine Herkimer diamond as the centerpiece. The Herkimer diamonds used for this design are naturally faceted and double terminated, untreated and absolutely stunning. They are water clear, super gemmy and translucent with some beautiful inclusions.

This necklace is made to order and no two Herkimer diamonds are exactly the same. Yours will be created just for you in your choice of length and metal.

THE DETAILS

-A single genuine faceted Herkimer diamond quartz is the centerpiece of this dainty necklace.

-I will choose a Herkimer diamond from my collection to create your bespoke necklace. (Last photo shows a portion of my faceted Herkimer diamond selection.) Each one is unique and they are all beautiful.

-Herkimer diamonds are are water clear, super gemmy and translucent with some beautiful inclusions.

-Because they form naturally faceted, they will vary a bit in size and shape, so please allow for slight variances. They average 5-6mm tall, and 3-4mm wide in size and are naturally faceted and double terminated in shape.

-Herkimer diamond is connected directly to a lovely, delicate and sparkly cable chain which is finished with a spring ring clasp and figure eight loop with bead detail at the back. *Please Note* Fine chain is delicate and should be treated with due care to help prevent breakage.

-Choose your necklace length from the drop menu. Necklaces shown in photos are 15″ length.

-Offered in your choice of metal: Solid Sterling Silver, 14k Yellow Gold Filled, 14k Rose Gold Filled. Choose your metal from the drop menu.

ABOUT GOLD FILLED JEWELRY

Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, which must constitute at least 5% (1/20) of the item’s total weight, mechanically bonded to sterling silver or a base metal (such as jeweler’s brass). Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate, making it much more valuable and longer lasting because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film as on plated jewelry which is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled (I use 14kt for my pieces). Gold-filled does not de-laminate or peel like plated or “dipped” products. It is tarnish resistant and does not tarnish as readily as silver. Many find that they never have to clean gold-filled items at all. However, from time to time your jewelry may become dirty from everyday wear. To clean gold-filled it is best to use mild soap and water.
