Inspired by the 1920’s Art Deco “Pools Of Light” jewelry designs, luminous genuine quartz crystal orbs dangle and catch light beautifully in their two tone mixed metal settings. Made in solid sterling silver, fine silver, and 14k gold filled. A nod to the golden age with a modern minimalist aesthetic, they make an elegant and timeless statement.
These earrings are made to order, the pair in the photos is sold and yours will be created just for you with their own luminous quartz crystal orbs.
THE DETAILS
-Earrings feature genuine polished 10mm round quartz crystal orbs, center drilled.
-Quartz orbs are mounted on solid sterling silver torch fired headpins which run through the center of the orbs and then wrap fluidly around both sides. Bottoms of headpins are left darkened from torch firing to add contrast and a contemporary edge to the design.
-Earring hooks and chain are 14k yellow gold filled.
-A beautiful hand carved fine silver 2.5mm hexagonal nugget accents the center of each chain.
-Total length of earrings from top of hooks to bottom of design is about 59mm (just over 2 1/4″). Earring drop length from bottom loop of earring hooks to bottom of orbs is about 45mm (1 3/4″).

ABOUT GOLD FILLED JEWELRY
Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, which must constitute at least 5% (1/20) of the item’s total weight, mechanically bonded to sterling silver or a base metal (such as jeweler’s brass). Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate, making it much more valuable and longer lasting because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film as on plated jewelry which is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled (I use 14kt for my pieces). Gold-filled does not de-laminate or peel like plated or “dipped” products. It is tarnish resistant and does not tarnish as readily as silver. Many find that they never have to clean gold-filled items at all. However, from time to time your jewelry may become dirty from everyday wear. To clean gold-filled it is best to use mild soap and water.
ABOUT FINE SILVER
My fine silver beads and components are made completely by hand in the remote mountain area of Northern Thailand by the Karen Hill Tribe. Known and respected for their skill and expert craftsmanship in silver smithing, and using centuries old techniques, these artisans create pieces of a distinctive style unique to them. Karen Hill Tribe silver pieces are made of a higher purity than 92.5% sterling silver. Because the actual range is 95-99% purity, these pieces are softer, have a whiter color and will not tarnish as readily as sterling silver. Beads may have a visible seam.
