3 hrs Left To Order 2018 Calendars

Wow… the day has finally arrived. This is the deadline for pre-ordering calendars and there are 3 hours left… I will be pulling the calendars down at midnight tonight.

“Thank you” to everyone that made it possible for me to achieve something that I have been too scared to do (I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either). Your love and belief in me, expressed in your excitement for these calendars, has been a driving force in pushing me to continue past my doubts. Because Of that, these are AMAZING!!! And I can’t wait for you to see them.

I will be shipping out calendars incrementally after the deadline. Expect to receive your calendars before December 1st.

I know a lot of people are asking me if I’ll have calendars at the Palafox Market after the deadline, and to be honest with you, I don’t think so, we’ll have to see. As for now they are only available on line.

This was a huge learning experience for me, one that I am proud and thankful for. I can honestly say, I’ve got next year on lock down.

UDATE: 2018 Calendars Shipping Soon!

I want to start this by saying “thank you” to everyone that has pre-ordered a calendar thus far, you guys have made it possible for me. Your love and belief in me, expressed in your excitement for these calendars, has been a driving force in their creation.

Some of you may be thinking “Rafi, it’s just a calendar, get over it.”

I have thought about releasing calendars for the last four years, and somehow managed to talk myself out of it every year. I’m pretty sure deep down it had to do with fear of rejection or something silly like that.

Luckily, this year I decided it was better to try and fail, than to not try at all… and the rest is happening as we speak… So, THANK YOU!

You have been patiently (and impatiently) reading updates and waiting for the release date.

2018 Rafi Calendars — As some of you know, I looked at some proofs recently from a local publisher and almost cried, because they looked so vivid and amazing. I’ve gone with the best company. (http://www.kquarlesgs.com/ or http://po10tialmag.com/)

This next Gallery Night I’m going to be a part of something that is both nerve-racking and exciting. Get ready for:

Art at the Annex: Drawing Rally

On Friday, November 17 from 6 PM – 9 PM, During Gallery Night, at The Cowork Annex (13 Palafox Pl.) is going to be an event that I have rarely experienced here in Pensacola.

Part live art-making performance, part arts community awareness. Watch as local artists create artworks from start-to-finish while under a three hour time limit in front of a live audience – who can silently bid on the works as they are made.

Are you kidding me?? That sounds amazing!!!

Glow In The Dark Live Painting At Vinyl 2016

Join us for this exciting live event – including fire dancing performances, music by AnyDayDJ.Com, an interactive creation station, photo booth, and tours of downtown’s new cowork @nnex facilities! @rt at the @nnex is free and open to the public on 11.17 from 6-9pm – during downtown Pensacola Gallery Night.

Becoming A Work Of Art Yourself

I have always been fascinated by portraiture, and what I think of as an artistic snapshot of the personality of a human being in motion through life. Although I admire and have an appreciation for portraits, they’ve never really been my favorite thing to work on.

Until now…

I am currently working on some studies, where I take images of real people and apply them to the life concepts that I put in my collections.

I am always looking for inspiring pictures, and would love an opportunity to paint you or someone you know into a piece of “Rafi Art” and as my friend said, be immortalized.

All you have to do is email me an image and some info to rafi@rafiwashere.com

Please Follow These Rules Of Thumb:

Images must be sharp and not blurry.
Please have good lighting in the photo.
I will accept- close up of the face (preferably no smiling for the camera poses), artistic poses, tasteful nudes, something that tells a story, or just an awesome photo.
It would be helpful if you gave me a little insight on the person in the image.
Things like, favorite color, strengths and what you would like say with the painting are helpful.
Please keep in mind that if you are chosen for one of the works, I will take the image and info and create something inspired by the information, but ultimately I retain full control of the creative process. This is not a commission. If you would like to commission me, contact me with details for consideration.
If your image is chosen and created, you are in no way obligated to buy the original piece, these are studies that will be done on 11X14 paper. I will send you a printable copy via email that you can print out (FREE) as a thank you.
I will contact you if I intend to use your image. This is a side project so please be patient.
By sending me an image you are giving me permission to use it in this project.

2018 Limited Edition Rafi Art Calendars

I am very excited to announce that this year will be the first year of limited edition calendars to be released by me.

Each series calendar has art that was carefully chosen by me in order to convey the message that I would like you to carry with you throughout the year.

Everyone that orders by November 10th will receive a free gift with their calendar!

nature — 2018 Nature Art Calendar has a collection of happy images from flowers, to trees, to birds. My idea with this calendar was to bring a pop of color and joy to any drab work space. This calendar has no suggested nudity.

marine-7 — 2018 Marine Creatures Art Calendar has a collection of my colorful and bold water animals that I work on when inspired. The idea with this calendar was to bring a little of that calm and beauty to any space. This calendar has no suggested nudity.

Love-is-7 — 2018 Love IS… Art Calendar has a collection of my colorful and happy little characters that only have one purpose in life, to inspire and bring you joy. The idea with this calendar was to bring a little bit of color, fun, and happiness into any space. This calendar has no suggested nudity.

2018 Meditation Art Calendar has carefully selected works that are meant to inspire a sense of calm and contemplation. This calendar has many images of meditation and of contemplative moments in my life. This calendar is meant for a more personal setting.

2018 Personal Power Art Calendar is a collection of some of my most empowering and controversial pieces. Each image is accompanied by a short quote that puts the piece in context. Due to some of the powerful images, this calendar is meant for a more personal setting.

You Are Invited To p-ART-y With Us

As I sit here looking at my schedule for this weekend, I can’t help but think “Wow, this is pretty awesome!”

Ok, so let’s get right into it, This Friday, it’s all about Gallery Night, graffiti, and a pop up gallery. This Saturday, it’s about a leisurely stroll through a beautiful downtown market. Sunday it’s all about wine, art, and a boardwalk on the water.

What do all these things have in common? Us… Klee and I will be attending and being a part of all three. So, I am inviting you to join us in the fun.

Leader Art Consultants and cowork annex have partnered to bring an exciting new series of monthly PopUp exhibits to downtown Pensacola’s Gallery Night.

The October @rt at the @nnex PopUp is a celebration of urban contemporary art by local graffiti and street artists. 27 original works by 14 local artists – including a 20 ft. collaborative locker mural by artists Nate Lyle and Brandon Barnhart. Works include everything from graffiti on canvas and found objects to street art inspired abstracts, photographs and video projection.

I’m Excited To Curate Your Space

One of my favorite things to do as an Artist is to help my collectors plan, display, and curate the space in their home. It is amazing how art will change the mood and feeling of a room, or the whole house for that matter. I have people email me all the time telling me about their morning empowerment routine with one of my bright pieces of art.

My only challenge has been bringing that sense of color and energy to a smaller space, or to a small work space.

Luckily, I have a solution. I am working on pieces that will allow you to curate any space. Small specialty pieces to bring that energy and power to a small bathroom or even a cubicle… or any place you can think of.

“Curate your space” is a new series of enhanced prints. This is a high quality print of my work on textured archival art paper. I enhance my prints using either ink, paint, pastel, or a combination of mediums. Each one is unique, the piece is mounted on wood and ready to hang out of the box. It is completely hand crafted by me, with unique texture patterns added by hand, no two are exactly the same. These pieces are signed and dated on the back.

I am adding several new pieces to my store daily, so check back often. I will be doing an official launch on November 15th of the series, but I’m just too excited about it… So, the cat’s out of the bag.

What Will I Do With This Chair? Art Chair!

I was invited to create something new out of something old that will be something awesome for something that we all care about.

This old chair that you see pictured here will be converted into a work of art… maybe even one you can sit on. This is for “From Blue To Better Campaign” to prevent child abuse.

I recently did a mural for Child Abuse Awareness at the Graffiti Bridge, which if I’m honest with you, was a little outside of my comfort zone… but, it is for such a great campaign that I had to try it.

This is a little outside of my comfort zone as well, I’ve never created an “art chair” and of course my mind is trying to over think it with all kinds of elaborate plans, that are a bit ridiculous. That being said, what I have planned is going to blow you away… just sayin. Wish me luck, hope I can pull it off.

If you get a chance to be there, I will be putting the finishing touches on it on Thursday, 6pm, April 6th, 2017 at Beyond The Grape at the Cordova Mall, where you will be able to buy a raffle ticket and win the chair.

“Wine Tasting And Live Painting Thursday April 6th 6-9pm in support of the From Blue To Better Campaign to prevent child abuse. What goes better with wine than a delicious pairing of live art. Join Rafi Was Here Studios – Artist Rafi Perez on Thursday April 6th from 6-9pm at Beyond the Grape at Cordova Mall, right across from Red Robin. He will paint one of our former conference room chairs to be raffled off that evening. His work will be displayed and we will have other art pieces from local artists available for raffle … It doesn’t get much better.

There will be complimentary wine tasting and a special 15% discount on bottles purchases that night. Munch on light hors d’oeuvres and enjoy a fun evening of Wine, Art and Food! Beyond The Grape will host a wine tasting with their range of specialty Florida fruit and infused wines as well as their monthly selections of the best traditional varietals from around the world.
