Each month Jaco’s features a new artist whose work will hang on the walls of the restaurant for that month. The night of the reception they also have free wine tasting of that months featured wines.
So, we have featured art, a featured artist (me), and featured wine (not me, but still awesome) at the same event, sitting right on the water… and YOU are invited!

I’m really excited about the pieces that I created for this particular show. I created a series in groupings of 2 or 3, each with it’s own message and story, it is 14 pieces all together.
I spent a few months planning and creating for the show.
The show will run at Jaco’s until January 3rd. I hope to see you all at the reception and share a wine tasting with you.

Art at the Annex: Drawing Rally
On Friday, November 17 from 6 PM – 9 PM, During Gallery Night, at The Cowork Annex (13 Palafox Pl.) is going to be an event that I have rarely experienced here in Pensacola.
Part live art-making performance, part arts community awareness. Watch as local artists create artworks from start-to-finish while under a three hour time limit in front of a live audience – who can silently bid on the works as they are made.
Are you kidding me?? That sounds amazing!!!

I have always been fascinated by portraiture, and what I think of as an artistic snapshot of the personality of a human being in motion through life. Although I admire and have an appreciation for portraits, they’ve never really been my favorite thing to work on.

I am currently working on some studies, where I take images of real people and apply them to the life concepts that I put in my collections.

I am always looking for inspiring pictures, and would love an opportunity to paint you or someone you know into a piece of “Rafi Art” and as my friend said, be immortalized.

Please Follow These Rules Of Thumb:
Images must be sharp and not blurry.
Please have good lighting in the photo.
I will accept- close up of the face (preferably no smiling for the camera poses), artistic poses, tasteful nudes, something that tells a story, or just an awesome photo.
It would be helpful if you gave me a little insight on the person in the image.
Things like, favorite color, strengths and what you would like say with the painting are helpful.
Please keep in mind that if you are chosen for one of the works, I will take the image and info and create something inspired by the information, but ultimately I retain full control of the creative process. This is not a commission. If you would like to commission me, contact me with details for consideration.
If your image is chosen and created, you are in no way obligated to buy the original piece, these are studies that will be done on 11X14 paper. I will send you a printable copy via email that you can print out (FREE) as a thank you.
I will contact you if I intend to use your image. This is a side project so please be patient.

I just released a series of calendars that I am happy to say, made a big hit… But they didn’t make a big splash. I have had several request for a “Rafi Marine Art” Calendar… Like… a lot of requests. My plan was to release it next year, because… franky, designing calendars is not really the funnest thing in the world to do. But, I love you guys and want you to have it this year.
So, here it is!
2018 Marine Creatures Art Calendar has a collection of my colorful and bold water animals that I work on when inspired. The idea with this calendar was to bring a little of that calm and beauty to any space. This calendar has no suggested nudity.
Then, as I was going through the multitude of images that I have, I ran across a series that I wanted as a calendar for myself… Although, I’ll probably buy them all.

Recently I was asked to create a piece that was unique and quite amazing. It was amazing for three reasons…
Reason 1, I mean, just look at it!
Reason 2, I couldn’t believe that I had never created a piece like this, considering that my wife and partner in crime… (or creation) is a jewelry designer.
Reason 3, It’s just so freaking cool!
Two very amazing individuals who have collected Klee’s jewelry and some of my work approached us with a request.
“We love both of your work and would like to be able to display them together.”
They came by the studio and we spent some time discussing an idea they had. Which, I’m going to just say, they are quite fun and inspiring to hang out with, and there might have been wine involved, although, I think the wine came later… either way, we love those two, and it was fun discussing ideas.
They searched and found the perfect piece of wood for the project, which was really cool, because at that point it became a collaboration between the four of us.
I have to say, I am especially proud of this piece. The fact that my art, Klee’s art, and their ingenuity brought this to life, shows me how powerful unity and creative thinking can be.
I am very excited to announce that this year will be the first year of limited edition calendars to be released by me.
Each series calendar has art that was carefully chosen by me in order to convey the message that I would like you to carry with you throughout the year.
