ABOUT TOURMALINE
Tourmaline is a boron silicate mineral which occurs primarily in metamorphic and igneous rock. It can be found in a wide array of colors and is known as the “world’s most colorful gem”. It is a prismatic crystal and often has striations that parallel the long axis of the crystal. It often displays pleochroism, it’s color can appear different when viewed from different angles. Because of it’s clarity and color, it is one of the most popular gems for jewelry.
Tourmaline is said to be a stone of protection, clearing, vitality and wellbeing.
ABOUT PYRITE
Pyrite is a metallic iron sulfide mineral, named after the Greek “Pyr” meaning “fire”. It occurs worldwide in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. It is usually a brass yellow in color, and because of it’s isometric crystal structure, it often forms in geometric shapes such as cubes, octahedrons, and dodecahedrons.
Pyrite is said to be a stone of prosperity, abundance, good fortune and protection.
ABOUT FINE SILVER
My fine silver beads and components are made completely by hand in the remote mountain area of Northern Thailand by the Karen Hill Tribe. Known and respected for their skill and expert craftsmanship in silver-smithing, and using centuries old techniques, these artisans create pieces of a distinctive style unique to them. Karen Hill Tribe silver pieces are made of a higher purity than 92.5% sterling silver. Because the actual range is 95-99% purity, these pieces are softer, have a whiter color and will not tarnish as readily as sterling silver. Beads may have a visible seam. Sizes and shapes may vary slightly with these handcrafted items. All of my Hill Tribe fine silver is purchased directly from the source using ethical and fair trade practices.
