A luminous aqua sea green trade glass ball, nested in a two tone hand woven bezel of sterling silver and 14k yellow gold filled wire with fine silver nugget bead link. Dangling from a long two tone sterling silver and 14k gold filled chain with fine silver nugget accent.
The design is reminiscent of shimmering fish scales and old world sea treasures, centering on the beauty of the light that passes through the glass. A modern interpretation of a beautiful relic from times gone by, it is captivating worn alone or layered with other necklaces.
The trade glass used for this design is semi-round spherical in shape and is a soft aqua green in color, which I like to call “Sea Green”. It has a raw tumbled surface texture with some unique surface features, and is translucent (light passes through). Please read below for more info about trade glass.
This necklace is made to order and no two trade glass beads are exactly the same. Yours will be created just for you.
-Recycled/Trade glass, semi-round in shape and soft aqua green in color with a raw tumbled surface texture. Some have surface inclusions and all are translucent (light can pass through).
-I will choose a trade glass bead from my collection to create your bespoke necklace. Each one is unique and they are all beautiful.
-Trade glass beads vary slightly in shape and size but are all semi-round and average 14mm (about 1/2″) in size.
-Nested in a two tone woven wire setting around the bead (sterling silver at bottom and 14k yellow gold filled at top). Bead has a hole in the center and the woven wire setting runs through the bead as well, holding it securely in place.
-A fine silver (99.9% pure silver) 3mm nugget and 14k yellow gold filled wire link connects the bead pendant to the chain. Bead link adds to the delicate look of this design, but is very strong and secure.
-Pendant averages 14mm (about 1/2″) in size (not including the bead link, which adds about 3/8″).
-Pendant dangles from a two tone 1.1mm cable chain with small spring ring clasp. Chain is sterling silver and 14k yellow gold filled. A fine silver nugget bead link connects the silver and gold chain together and adds lovely detail.
-One third of the chain (8″) is sterling silver, and two thirds (16″) is 14k yellow gold filled. Spring clasp is 14k yellow gold filled with two yellow gold filled bead accents.
-Chain measures 24″ total in length. If you would like an alternate chain length or clasp, please message me for available options.

ABOUT TRADE GLASS
Trade glass beads are a type of hand formed (usually kiln fired) indigenously produced African bead created from recycled glass, using an age old process that has been around for centuries. It is sourced from sea glass, old medicine bottles, soda bottles and the like. Used as a form of token currency from the 16th-20th centuries, it derives it’s name.
The beads I use are produced primarily in Ghana West Africa. They are Fair Trade.
ABOUT GOLD FILLED JEWELRY
Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, which must constitute at least 5% (1/20) of the item’s total weight, mechanically bonded to sterling silver or a base metal (such as jeweler’s brass). Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate, making it much more valuable and longer lasting because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film as on plated jewelry which is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled (I use 14kt for my pieces). Gold-filled does not de-laminate or peel like plated or “dipped” products. It is tarnish resistant and does not tarnish as readily as silver. Many find that they never have to clean gold-filled items at all. However, from time to time your jewelry may become dirty from everyday wear. To clean gold-filled it is best to use mild soap and water.
