It is time to center ourselves and find focus. For our May challenge, we are stepping away from the organic chaos of nature and into the world of geometric precision and symbolism.
The Theme: The Inner Circle
This month, the challenge is structural. Every piece of art, music, or writing must revolve around or be contained within a perfect circle. Whether it represents the cycle of life, a cosmic portal, a piece of jewelry, or a repetitive musical loop, the circle is your boundary and your focal point.
Submission Deadline: May 16, 2026 Show Opens: May 18/19, 2026
Creative Prompts (Suggestions Only!):
- Painting: The “Tondo” challenge. Your entire composition must be painted on a circular canvas or within a perfectly painted circular border.
- Mixed Media: Create a “Mandala” using repetitive found objects (buttons, gears, or pebbles) arranged in a ring.
- Sculpture & Jewelry: Focus on hoops, spheres, or “Ouroboros” (the snake eating its tail) designs.
- Music & Audio: Circular or loop-based compositions that begin and end at the exact same note, creating a seamless cycle.
- Poetry: A “Cyclical” poem where the last line is a repetition of the first line, bringing the reader back to the start.
Note: These are just starting points. Please interpret “The Inner Circle” however feels right to your creative spirit!
