As the days get longer and the light shifts, we are leaning into the warmth. For our June challenge, we are focusing on that specific, fleeting window of time that transforms everything it touches.
The Theme: Golden Hour
This month is about capturing the magic of the sun at its lowest point. Think about warmth, long dramatic shadows, and high-contrast highlights. Whether you are depicting a summer sunset or the metaphorical “glow” of a person or memory, we want to see you play with light.
Submission Deadline: June 13, 2026 Show Opens: June 15/16, 2026
Creative Prompts (Suggestions Only!):
- Painting: Focus on “Rim Lighting.” Paint a subject where the light source comes from behind, creating a glowing edge.
- Mixed Media: Use gold leaf or metallic acrylic markers over a matte, dark background.
- Sculpture & Jewelry: Work with brass, gold, or amber. Focus on how the piece reflects or catches physical light.
- Music & Audio: Warm, “saturated” sounds; lo-fi beats with a fuzzy, nostalgic feel.
- Poetry: Focus on the transition between day and night; themes of fading, glowing, or the “last light.”
Note: These are just starting points. Please interpret “Golden Hour” however feels right to your creative spirit!
