ABOUT PALO SANTO
Palo Santo, or “Holy Wood” (Bursera graveolens), is an aromatic wood from South America traditionally used for spiritual purification, energy cleansing, and healing. It is deeply rooted in Indigenous traditions for ceremonial use, often clearing negative energy similar to sage. Authentic, high-quality palo santo must be ethically harvested only from fallen branches or trees that have died naturally and rested on the forest floor for 3 to 10 years, allowing the wood to mature and develop its resin. My palo santo beads are sourced from reputable suppliers that work with sources in Peru and Ecuador, focusing on ethical harvesting and reforesting efforts. The scent profile is characterized as a subtle blend of sweet resin, warm wood, a hint of citrus, and earthy notes. It is unlike any other scent I know, and by far my favorite woody aroma.
CARING FOR YOUR STRETCH BRACELET
To preserve the life of your stretch bracelet, it is best to roll the bracelet on and off rather than pull the elastic to stretch it on and off. These are made sturdy and will endure daily wear and all of your adventures with impressive gusto, but please keep in mind that these are organic material and will be effected by chemicals (perfumes, cleaning products, chlorine, etc). It is best (not absolutely necessary, but best) to remove your bracelet before showering, swimming, sleeping to preserve it’s integrity.
These bracelets are not artificially fragranced, rather they have their own natural aroma, 100% bonafide wood smell. The aroma is very subtle but lovely. Natural aroma will fade over time (C’est la vie… sigh) but can be preserved by storing your bracelet in a plastic or otherwise airtight pouch when not worn, and avoiding exposure to outside fragrances or chemicals.
Additionally, you can drop your own favorite essential oils onto the wood beads to enhance or rejuvenate their aroma, and they will act as a natural diffuser throughout the day.
HOW TO USE YOUR PALO SANTO STICK
Palo Santo (Holy wood) has been used and revered by South American cultures for more than a thousand years. Traditionally for energy / space clearing, and protection, it is used similarly to sage and sweetgrass. Hold the stick at a 45 degree angle, and light the end over a flame (with a lighter is easiest) for 30 to 60 seconds. Gently blow out the flame so that a red ember remains, and allow the purifying fragrant smoke to rise into the air. You may gently move the stick through the air or around your space to waft the aroma. The stick naturally stops smoking after a short time- you can blow on the ember or relight it if you need more smoke. Allow the stick to cool naturally or you can press the tip firmly into a bowl of sand, dirt, or a non-flammable surface until the smoke completely stops. Never place your Palo Santo stick on any surface that is flammable or could be damaged while the stick is hot. We like to keep ours in small ceramic or heat resistant dishes around the house.
