Description
ABOUT THIS SCULPTURE
Curiosity as a Compass is a sculpture about navigating the world by following the pull of wonder. The figure stands wrapped in markings, symbols, and hand-carved language. Symbolizing how you are a living journal of experiences gathered along the way. Beads spill downward like a cascade of memories and stories, each one representing the moments that shape us when we move through life with an open mind.
Inside the top of the figure’s head sits a vintage WWII button compass. It’s not hidden, it’s intentionally placed in the seat of thought, imagination, and perception. The compass symbolizes the inner navigation system we all carry, the part of us that points toward possibility long before logic catches up. It’s a reminder that curiosity, not fear, should be the thing steering the ship.
The engraved word IMAGINE across the forehead reflects the idea that imagination is both a direction and a destination. The patterns across the torso, combined with the tactile weight of the beads, speak to the beautiful chaos of being human. Life’s Journey is how we gather meaning, how we learn, and how our experiences layer onto us over time.
This sculpture is an invitation: trust the compass inside your own mind and heart. Let curiosity guide you into the unknown, let imagination expand your world, and allow exploration, not fear, to be your true north.
