This is the original drawing used to create one of the illustrations in my book Dear Artist, Don’t Give Up: Letters from a Rogue.

Drawn in pencil, ink, and copic markers on acid-free card stock paper, this piece carries all the raw energy, stray lines, and imperfections that make an original what it is, the real thing that started it all before it became a polished illustration in print.

If you’ve read Dear Artist, you know the message behind these drawings: it’s about the creative journey which is messy, beautiful, uncertain, and absolutely worth it.
