ABOUT THIS PAINTING
A symbol of the loss of ignorance, a lightning bolt is known in antiquity as a divine manifestation of immense power. It has been a powerful symbol throughout history, and has appeared in many mythologies throughout the world. I thought it would be an appropriate symbol for the unexplained power that lies within the potentiality of our human existence. Lightning is electricity, which is a form of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles which vibrate at an extraordinary rate, yet there really is not a definitive answer to what this energy is, only abstract representations of how electricity interacts with our surroundings and within our body. This energy flows freely within us and yet we don’t really understand it. Just like our own sense of worthiness, confidence and self love, I feel like there is an electricity to our empowering emotions… That we can feel electric… that in this state we become a mysterious force that can only be described in the abstract as we interact with the world. “You could feel the electricity in the room when she walked in.” This piece is a reminder that you can feel “turned on” and that you have an immense power within you.
