Would You Like Cocktail Sauce With That?
HL Wirtner, The Fishing Artist | Pennsylvania
- Medium: Mixed media with 3D textures and acrylic skins
- Price: $1,800 (Available for purchase)
Artist’s Note
“This painting created for the Pretty in Pink challenge pushed me into new territory. I had never painted a saltwater fish before, so I began by researching pink species of fish and settled on a red snapper, along with what it eats. Learning that shrimp were part of its diet sparked a playful idea. We enjoy shrimp cocktail as a delicacy, and I started wondering how I could translate that concept into the underwater world without being literal.
While searching for reference images, I came across a nautilus shell and immediately saw the possibility. Turned upward, it could cradle shrimp the way a cocktail glass might, creating a visual joke that felt clever rather than staged. That moment shaped the entire piece. I let myself have fun with the environment too. The corals are built with mixed media and three-dimensional textures, along with flexible acrylic skins layered across the surface. In the end, this became a playful exchange between human traditions and the natural world. A shrimp cocktail for us becomes a shrimp cocktail for a red snapper. That sense of humor is what led to the title, Would You Like Cocktail Sauce With That?“

Resilience and Cherry Blossoms
Bret Schwalb
- Medium: Copper wire, acrylic, and shattered glass
- Price: $1,400.00 (Available for purchase)
- Note: Available mounted in a shadow box upon request.
Artist’s Note
“In this work, I explore how failure, though painful, is the foundation for a new story. The jagged edges of shattered glass from a fallen picture frame support a copper wire and acrylic Cherry tree in full bloom. It is a visual reminder that even when we fail, we can find a way to take root in the brokenness and bloom again.”

Annie’s Girl
Amy Keever
- Medium: Mosaic (Over 11,000 pieces of hand-cut stained glass and Italian smalti)
- Price: $20,000 (Available for purchase; currently featured in gallery exhibition)
Artist’s Note
“This piece was inspired my late mother and a dream I had after her passing. She came to me in pink, a color she never wore, but I loved pink and I had watched her deal with a terrible journey of vascular dementia. The dream was such a healing experience for me as she was young and happy and I felt like the fact she was dressed in pink she was communicating and relating to me through pink—her last words in the dream were ‘Remember, I’m just on the other side!’ Now pink is almost always in every piece I create, as it feels like she’s creating with me.”

Eternal Hearth
Klee Angelie Jewelry
- Medium: Rose gold filled setting with flame-cut pink orange labradorite
- Price: $189 (Available for purchase)
Artist’s Note
“‘Eternal Hearth’ serves as a quiet reminder of your own inner strength and the warmth you carry with you. A piece designed to be worn close to the heart, shining with a light that is always and forever yours. Featuring an other-worldly flame-cut pink orange labradorite, this pendant is a celebration of warmth and light. Instead of working in contrasting colors, I leaned into the warmth of the stone with a rose gold filled setting that enhances the rare pink-orange flash it displays in its dynamic light play—that shifts and dances as you move. The flame cut shape of the stone doesn’t shout, but whispers ‘Eternal Hearth’—a kind of slow-burn fire and passion that is as beautiful and rare as the stone itself.”

Untamed Inner Flight
Rafi Perez
- Medium: Mixed media on canvas
- Dimensions: 18 x 24 in.
- Price: $295.00 (Available for purchase)
Artist’s Note
“For me, this painting is about the wildness we all carry inside. It’s the part of us that refuses to be quieted or made to fit into a neat little box. I wanted to depict a figure that isn’t just ‘pretty’ or ‘ethereal,’ but one that commands the space she inhabits. The wings here aren’t a sign of fragility, they are a symbol of a spirit that cannot be caged. By pairing a grounded, powerful stance with a background that feels like an explosion of internal energy, I’m exploring the moment someone decides to stop apologizing for their own power. This is about that fierce, internal freedom that comes when you finally let your truest self out into the light.”

Pink Horse
Michael Strangelove
- Medium: Acrylic (Series: Reimagining the Classics)
- Availability: Not for sale (Copyright restrictions)
Artist’s Note
“Since first seeing the original version of this painting, Dark Horse by Alex Colville, on the cover of one of my favorite albums by Bruce Cockburn (Night Vision, 1973), I have been enamored with Colville’s work. Colville’s Dark Horse represents the past meeting the present, modernity’s (the train) violent destruction of nature and the rural past (the horse). I will leave it to the viewer to decide what meanings come from my ‘queering’ or ‘pinking’ of the main actors, train and horse, in the painting.”

Not Being Different, Just Being (Me)
Chris Shopland
- Medium: Acrylic and pen on deep-edge canvas
- Dimensions: 14.8 × 20.8 cm (3.9 cm depth)
- Price: £150 (Plus postage)
Artist’s Note
Many people feel free to make snide remarks about anyone who looks or lives differently—especially around how people dress or present themselves. Ideas of what a man or woman ‘should’ be still dominate, and for trans or non-binary people the internet can be especially cruel.
I’m a straight, white, cis male, but also neurodivergent, and I believe anyone—especially those who are part of a minority—should be free to be who they are and present themselves without judgement. I may have subconsciously been thinking of Billy Elliot, particularly the scene where his friend wears dresses and makeup and later appears confident and unapologetically himself. An image flashed into my head of a bearded hipster in a tutu. Flamingos—naturally pink—followed, along with memories of an LGBTQ+ club called Flamingos. It all spilled out into this image. While difference isn’t always visible on the surface, this felt like a playful, energetic way of showing someone standing on their own two feet and dancing to their own beat.”
