AUG COLLAB Open Call: Miniature Worlds

This month, we are shifting our perspective and looking at the big picture through a very small lens. For our August challenge, we want to see the power of the minute and the intricate.

The Theme: Miniature Worlds

We are challenging you to explore scale. This could mean creating a literal tiny environment, like a diorama or a micro-sculpture, or it could mean using “Macro” thinking—taking a tiny, everyday object and depicting it as if it were a massive, heroic monument. Show us the vast details hidden in the smallest spaces.

Submission Deadline: August 15, 2026 Show Opens: August 17/18, 2026

Creative Prompts (Suggestions Only!):

• Painting: “Macro Focus.” Paint a tiny object (like an insect, a seed, or a needle) as if it were a massive landscape or a towering statue.
• Mixed Media: Create a “Shadowbox.” Use layers of paper, found objects, or tiny figurines to create a 3D scene inside a small tin or frame.
• Sculpture & Jewelry: Diorama-style jewelry or tiny, intricate figurines that tell a story in the palm of a hand.
• Music & Audio: “Minimalist” compositions using very few instruments or tiny, percussive sounds (clicks, taps, clockwork) to create a delicate soundscape.
• Poetry: Haikus or short “snapshot” poems that describe a single, very small, specific moment in high detail.

Note: These are just starting points. Please interpret “Miniature Worlds” however feels right to your creative spirit!
