If you’ve been wandering around the Oil City art scene feeling like a lone wolf in a world of spreadsheets and red tape, it’s time to find your pack.

This coming Thursday, February 26th, we are bringing the Art Syndicate together for the first time. If you’re a painter, a maker, a writer, a poet, a musician, a digital wizard, or just someone who identifies as a “creative human,” consider this your official invitation to grab a seat at the table. We also invite people in our community who support the artists in our area.

What is the Art Syndicate?

We didn’t start the Syndicate to be another committee or a “board of directors” with stuffy titles. We started it because we believe that artists and storytellers are the heartbeat of this town, but for too long, we’ve been working in our own silos. The Syndicate is about possibility. It’s about creating a space where we can discuss how to benefit the creative community and the area we love as a whole, not just one person or one organization. It’s about figuring out how to make a living doing what we love in a place we actually care about.

The Power of the United Voice

There is a massive, untapped power when artists, writers, and creative humans gather as one united force. When we speak individually, it’s a whisper; when we speak together, it’s a roar. At this meeting, we’re going to discuss:

Mural Fest 2026: We are rolling up our sleeves to help organize this year’s Mural Fest. We’ll give you the lowdown on what that looks like and how you can get involved.
Creating Our Own Events: We’re tired of waiting for invitations to be included. This year, we’re planning to organize our own Syndicate-led events, shows and showcases built by the creative community, for the creative community.
Possibilities for Growth: We’re looking at the big picture. How do we make Oil City a creative hub? How do we support each other’s businesses and projects?
The MAC Center Expo: We’ve done some deep diving and have some important info to share regarding the upcoming Expo… specifically regarding selling your work and how the partnership/application process actually works.

The Open Floor: Your Voice Matters

This isn’t a lecture. It’s a conversation. We’re opening up the floor to hear your concerns, your ideas, and your “what if” dreams. Whether you’ve got a fully formed plan or just a nagging feeling that we could be doing things better, we want to hear it. The vibe is laid back, the goals are ambitious, and the potential is huge. Let’s show the city what happens when the creative weirdos get organized.

We also want to boost our fellow creatives nearby! The French Creek Arts Collective is holding a mixer for both members and non-members at their space in Cussewago Square in Meadville on Saturday, February 28th. It’s a great chance to network and connect with the broader regional scene.
