We always say the Art Syndicate is about moving from vision to action. But sometimes, action requires more than just grit, it requires capital. Whether you are looking to research a new body of work abroad, stabilize your studio practice, or handle an unexpected life hurdle, there are organizations dedicated to keeping artists like us creating. Klee and I personally apply for grants whenever we are eligible. I wanted to share them with you.

- Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants: Assistance for artists with an upcoming exhibition who hit an unexpected expense.
- CERF+ Emergency Relief Grants: For craft artists following a career-threatening emergency.
- Musicians Foundation Grants: For professional performers, composers, or educators in a time of need.
- Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grants: For painters, printmakers, and sculptors suffering from a catastrophic incident.
- Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants: Grants for unexpected medical, dental, or mental health emergencies.
- IDA Emergency Assistance: For filmmakers whose work puts them in imminent physical danger.
Why This Matters
Applying for grants is a skill. Even if you don’t feel “ready,” looking through these requirements helps you organize your artist statement, CV, and portfolio.
Are you planning on applying? If you need a second pair of eyes on an application or want to discuss strategies, let’s talk about it at our next meeting at The Fallen Shoppe on April 28th!
