“Most Favored Companions” – Sun and moon disk necklace. Entirely hammer forged by hand in solid sterling silver and solid jeweler’s brass.

In any journey that lies ahead of me, whether it’s facing the day or embarking on a grand new adventure, whether I am alone or with others-  I have always found reassurance and perspective in the celestial companions that are our sun and moon. I have stared in wonder at them, asked for guidance, celebrated with them in joyous times, and sat quietly with them in challenging times as they reminded me that all is well and all is unfolding as it should.

They remind me that I am both big and small, eternal and ephemeral, significant in my singular essence, and “not that serious” as a lovely whisp of a greater whole.

This piece was lovingly forged with my torch and hand saw, ball peen hammers, etching scribes, and steel and wood blocks in the old ways. It is a celebration of the tangible and the timeless.

THE DETAILS

-Pendant is 18 gauge solid jeweler’s brass, hammer forged into a large gleaming domed disk with rich hammered texture. On the face, a crescent moon in 20 gauge solid sterling silver which was hand wrought and permanently forged onto the disk.

-Crescent moon features my “signature sparkle” hammer texture. Hand etched around the crescent moon are whispy “starburst lines”, paying homage to the radiance of the moon. A hand forged solid sterling silver tube bail tops the pendant as a one of a kind connecting point for the chain.

-Pendant measures 50mm (2″) not including tube bail which adds about 1/4″, 50mm (2″) width, and is convex (domed in shape).

-Chain is a 1.5mm solid sterling silver diamond cut cable chain finished with a solid sterling silver toggle clasp,  20″ length. It is sturdy yet elegant, and sparkles like a dream.

ABOUT JEWELER’S BRASS

Jeweler’s Brass, also known as Red Brass or Merlin’s Gold is a type of brass that is higher in copper content than standard yellow brass (at approximately 85% copper) which gives it the same look and tone as 14k yellow gold.

My jeweler’s brass jewelry is made of solid brass which may darken and patina over time depending on conditions, though not as quickly as copper. These pieces are polished but not lacquered, and they are very easy to clean.
