This dimensional convex disk “Shield” necklace features rich rustic hammered texture, beautiful light play and reflective qualities, and functions as an awesome touchstone necklace. Created in 14k rose gold filled, each one is hammer formed with it’s own unique texture. A 14k rose gold filled chain completes the design.
The very nature of a shield is to protect. It represents not only protection, but steadfast principals, commitment and loyalty. I’ve been wearing this design regularly, and frequently placing my thumb in the backside of the pendant as a kind of touchstone anchoring practice. It helps me feel grounded, present, and safe.

THE DETAILS
-Shield pendant is a 22 gauge 14k rose gold filled disk about 25mm diameter (1″) , hammer textured and hammer forged into a domed convex shape.
-The texture is rich and rustic, a combination of different hammering tools and techniques. It has gorgeous reflection and light play on the front side and mirror-like quality on the back side.
-Shield dangles on a sturdy 18 gauge jump ring, from a 1mm 14k rose gold filled cable chain with small spring ring clasp. Chain looks delicate but is quite strong.
-Custom sized to your requested chain length, please select length from the drop menu. Necklace shown in photos is 24″

ABOUT GOLD FILLED JEWELRY
Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, which must constitute at least 5% (1/20) of the item’s total weight, mechanically bonded to sterling silver or a base metal (such as jeweler’s brass). Gold-filled items are 5 to 10 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than gold electroplate, making it much more valuable and longer lasting because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film as on plated jewelry which is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled (I use 14kt for my pieces). Gold-filled does not de-laminate or peel like plated or “dipped” products. It is tarnish resistant and does not tarnish as readily as silver. Many find that they never have to clean gold-filled items at all. However, from time to time your jewelry may become dirty from everyday wear. To clean gold-filled it is best to use mild soap and water.
