Description
Okay, look—this is going to be a weird listing. But trust me, it’s awesome.
If you came here looking for a formal, high-brow portrait where every eyelash is perfectly rendered and your jawline looks like it was chiseled by gods, you are on the wrong page of my website. If you want that, you’ll need to commission me for a real fine art portrait.
But… if you want a piece of art that captures your soul (or at least your “vibe”) through a series of chaotic, joyful, and sometimes hilariously questionable lines? You’re in the right place.
The Philosophy: Scribble Surgery
The hardest thing for a professional artist to do is forget everything they know. I’ve spent decades training my eyes and hands to understand anatomy, perspective, and the exact way light hits a cheekbone. I’m really good at it—I know how to make a nose look like a nose.
The Honest Truth: This project is my personal therapy for being “too good” at my job. It’s dangerously easy to get locked into the cage of perfection, where every stroke is a calculation and the spontaneity that made me fall in love with art gets buried under the weight of “technique.”
In this series, I’m intentionally deconstructing every element I spent years mastering so that I can play like a five-year-old again. It’s actually much harder than you’d think to ignore the “right” way to draw and just let the pen wander. By stripping away the technical rules, I’m looking for the raw energy and the hilarious, wiggly essence of a person rather than a literal map of their face. It’s messy, it’s loose, and it’s a total rebellion against being an “adult” artist.
The Process: Pen, Color, and a Little Chaos
-
The Doodle: I start with a raw, “blind” flow of ink. No pencils, no erasers, and absolutely no safety nets.
-
The Pop: Once the lines are down, I enhance the piece with markers, paint, colored pencils, or pastels—whatever feels right in the moment. This adds a little something special that makes the art jump off the page.
-
The Words: To finish it off, I add a few words. This will be something you pick or something that automatically “comes to me” while I’m in the zone. It’s the final piece of the puzzle that ties the whole vibe together.
