Artist Statement:

This piece explores identity as something layered rather than fixed. The face is revealed in fragments, partially obscured and partially exposed, suggesting how we show different versions of ourselves depending on where we are and who we are with. The eyes remain clear and present, acting as an anchor of truth amid the shifting layers.

The flowing hair and spiraled background reference movement, time, and inner energy, while the central pendant becomes a quiet focal point, a symbol of what is held close and protected. Working in mixed media on paper allows textures to build organically, reinforcing the idea that identity is formed through accumulation, experience, and erosion.

This work is about the tension between visibility and privacy, about being seen without being fully known, and about the quiet strength that lives beneath the surface.
