Artist Statement:
This mixed-media piece on paper is about stillness, introspection, and the moments we carry quietly within ourselves. The downward gaze and softened posture suggest a pause rather than an ending, a space where thoughts settle and emotions are allowed to exist without explanation. The figure feels inward, protected, and gently held by the surrounding atmosphere.
The layered purples and muted tones create a sense of calm and emotional depth, while the loose, visible brushwork keeps the piece human and imperfect. Working on paper allows the marks to stay honest and unpolished, letting the texture of the surface and the transparency of the layers echo vulnerability.
Quiet Weight is about the things we hold that don’t need to be spoken. It honors softness, reflection, and the strength found in allowing yourself to be still.
