ARTIST STATEMENT (Bird On A Wire Series)

Bird On A Wire is a series about small moments, quiet courage, and the simple magic of just being alive. These little birds show up as bright silhouettes balancing on a single line against big, dreamy skies, and there is something about that image that has always felt powerful to me.

This series started as a reminder to slow down and notice the beauty in the everyday. A bird on a wire might seem ordinary but if you really look, it is a tiny act of trust and presence. They sit there in the open, in the middle of their journey, taking in the world, singing, resting, or waiting for the next moment to unfold. There is something very human about that.

The backgrounds in these pieces are textured, layered landscapes of color and mood. The birds themselves are simple shapes, each one holding a little personality in its posture, tilt, or the space between them. Some sit alone. Some sit together. Some lean closer. Some look ready to take off. They all tell a small story about connection, solitude, love, hope, or just the comfort of sitting still for a second.

To me, Bird On A Wire is about pausing in that in-between place. It is about trusting your balance even when the wire feels thin. It is about remembering that there is beauty in simplicity, that little moments matter, and that sometimes you do not need to do anything grand. Just breathe. Just sit for a moment. Just be.
