Description
Artist Statement:
This piece explores the idea of holding onto hope in moments when everything feels overwhelming or uncertain. At the center is a single eye, a symbol of awareness, resilience, and inner knowing. From it, dark lines radiate outward like nerves, roots, or energy pathways, suggesting both pressure and connection. They represent the thoughts, emotions, and external forces that pull at us, sometimes all at once.
The phrase Hold on to the light is subtle but intentional. It serves as a quiet reminder rather than a command, acknowledging that light is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes it exists as a small spark at the center, something we protect rather than chase.
Working on paper keeps the process raw and immediate. The layered textures, imperfect marks, and visible buildup reflect the human experience itself, complex, fragile, and resilient. This piece is about endurance, inner vision, and the act of staying present and aware even when surrounded by darkness.
