ARTIST STATEMENT

This ink-on-paper piece explores the tension between doubt and self-trust. The figure stands in a moment of uncertainty, surrounded by drifting marks, stains, and fragments of language that echo internal dialogue. The words feel almost overheard rather than announced, like thoughts that surface when confidence wavers and the ground beneath you feels unstable.

Ink is allowed to run, bleed, and pool, mirroring how doubt spreads quietly and unevenly. The looseness of the form and the erosion of edges suggest a figure still forming, still deciding who they are and where they stand. There is vulnerability here, but also presence. Even in uncertainty, the figure remains upright.

Working on paper keeps the piece honest and unpolished. The stains, drips, and imperfections are not corrected because they reflect the reality of being human… learning as you go, standing anyway, and slowly finding your footing in the middle of doubt.
