28 – Crescent Moon Necklace / Large Solid Sterling Silver Moon Pendant / Hand Forged / 18″ Chain

A shimmering silver crescent moon, hand sawn and hammer forged in solid sterling silver, featuring your choice of a gleaming smooth surface, or my signature sparkling moon texture. Dangles beautifully from solid sterling silver diamond cut chain at 18″ length. The design is celestial minimalist, while still creating an elegant statement.

The moon is one of my favorite symbols to represent natural cycles and the ebb and flow of life. This crescent moon, depending on which hemisphere of Earth you reside, is a Waning Crescent (Northern Hemisphere) or a Waxing Crescent (Southern Hemisphere). Of course, you can also flip this pendant around to reveal it’s counterpart if you so desire. See below for more crescent moon symbolism details.

I start with solid 20 gauge sterling silver which gets hand sawn, shaped, and hammer formed into a beautiful and unique crescent moon, no two are ever the same. After the hammer forming, it gets meticulously refined, filed and polished by hand, to ensure that it is beautiful and long lasting. I have enthusiastically employed my tools and geometry skills here, in order to create a crescent moon that is as geometrically accurate in length/width/percentage illumination ratios as possible with my two hands.

These are the example pieces for a new made to order design, and I currently have one available that you can order in signature sparkling moon texture finished with a diamond cut chain that is 18″ length.

THE DETAILS

-Crescent moon pendant is 20 gauge solid sterling silver and measures about 52mm (2 1/16″) tall, 6mm (1/4″) wide at the widest part of the crescent, and 1mm thickness. Pendant is lightweight with an elegant profile, but is also built solidly. It will not bend or deform with normal wear.

-Choose your texture~ Gleaming smooth on both sides, or my signature moon texture sparkling on the front side, with subtle texture on the reverse. (See pics for examples of each).

-Chain is a solid sterling silver diamond cut cable chain with a small spring ring clasp. It looks delicate but is quite strong. Chain is 18″ length.

CRESCENT MOON SYMBOLISM

Waning crescent: The portion of the moon illuminated is decreasing on it’s way to becoming the new moon. This is often regarded as a time of rest, recuperation, relaxation, trusting in what is, and pausing before preparing for the new cycle that begins with a new moon. For me, it’s a gentle reminder that while momentum is awesome, it’s equally valuable to take that quiet time we need for ourselves.

Waxing crescent: Following a new moon, a new crescent of illumination begins to emerge on it’s way to becoming more full. This is often regarded as a time of setting intentions after recharging under a new moon. Planting the seeds of hopes and desires in a new cycle. For me, it encourages those first moments and first steps on a new path, in a new phase.
