Rafi Perez Solo Art Show Pensacola FL

On Sept 11th 2015, I launched the opening for my solo art show “You Are Here – The Strange Curiosity of Right Now.” The opening reception was a huge success and the show was running until October 1st 2015. The show featured over 100 works of art, including installations, paintings and sculpture.

The show was hosted by Marty Campbell Gallery in Downtown Pensacola.rafi-perez-art-show-130I’ve always been very fascinated by the concept of right now. That fleeting moment that takes place inside your mind, it dictates how you feel and what you think about. The show exhibited a body of work that was a study of the various emotions that can exist in the fleeting moment of right now.rafi-perez-art-show-119“Art is such a great representation of the relative nature of the concept of time. Because the experience takes place in the viewers mind, it is not something that can actually be shared. Things will sow down when you get absorbed by the colors, texture and the subject of a piece of art, if it triggers an emotion response that is personal in nature. Yet, nothing will happen to the flow of time if the piece doesn’t speak to you in any way, you simply move on to the next.” – Rafi Perez

Coco Design Corporate Commission By Rafi Perez

I was approached by the awesome people of Coco Design in Pensacola for a special commission. All three of the head people played instruments and wanted a large piece for their meeting room.

I had never done instruments before, so I was excited about the challenge. After some long conversations about the feeling of music, and what it meant to them, I designed something pretty sweet.

A New Life And Mission 2009

Imagine leaving the corporate grind behind, trading in the daily 9-to-5 for endless highways and sunsets. That’s exactly what Rafi and Klee did when they decided to embark on a life-changing adventure. With a refurbished 1992 Ford Explorer as their home on wheels, they set out on a two-year road trip across the United States. Their mission? To break free from the societal programming they grew up with and rediscover themselves through their unique lens.

Starting from Illinois, their journey took them through diverse landscapes, all the way to the sun-kissed beaches of southern Florida. As early adopters of the van life movement, they filmed their travels before it became a popular trend, capturing the essence of living freely and authentically. Each day presented a new challenge and a new opportunity to rely on their ingenuity and creativity.

During a significant part of their journey, they paused in Pensacola, Florida, to support Rafi’s father as he recovered from heart surgery. This period became a foundation for their burgeoning art business, blending their talents and newfound perspectives into a thriving venture.

“A New Life” is more than just a road trip; it’s a testament to hope, self-belief, and the power of stepping outside your comfort zone. This adventure was the spark that ignited their passion, proving that when you dare to follow your own path, incredible things can happen. Join Rafi and Klee as they share their inspiring story, one mile at a time, and one adventure at a time. As of 2021, the new chapter in their adventure is owning a home and art studio in Pennsylvania.

Here are some pictures they took while on the road.
