Get ready! Something vibrant, loud, and incredibly creative is taking over downtown Oil City. We are thrilled to officially announce Mural Fest 2026, a two-day outdoor celebration of public art, local culture, and community happening right in the heart of Town Square on August 21st and 22nd!
Instead of hanging finished pieces behind velvet ropes in a gallery, Mural Fest brings the raw creative process out into the open air. Over the course of two days, you will get a front-row seat as 16 talented regional artists transform blank wooden monoliths into stunning public murals in real time.
Come hang out, bring a camping chair, talk to the artists, enjoy good food, and listen to great music as Town Square turns into an open-air studio!
Weekend Lineup & What to Expect
The festival runs from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on both days, each offering its own unique energy:
Friday, August 21: Prep & Sneak Peek Day (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Want an unfiltered look at how public art gets made? Friday is our official prep day. There are no bells and whistles, just pure process. Come down during your lunch break or afternoon stroll to watch the artists claim their monoliths, block in their background colors, and sketch their massive outlines.
Saturday, August 22: The Main Festival Day (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Saturday is when Town Square kicks into high gear! Murals will be painted live all day long alongside a packed schedule of fun activities:
- 11:00 AM: Festival Opening & DJ/Live Music Kickoff
- 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Sponsor Spotlight & VIP Hour
- 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Live Painting & Roving Artist Q&A (Listen to our wandering host interview painters live on the mic!)
- 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: “People’s Choice” Spectator Voting (Pick up a ballot at the welcome tent and vote for your favorite piece!)
- 5:15 PM – 5:45 PM: Closing Ceremony & People’s Choice Winner Announcement
- 5:45 PM – 6:00 PM: Final Group Photo Ops with artists, sponsors, and completed monoliths

What Makes Mural Fest Unique?
Four massive, four-sided Mural Monoliths are taking center stage in Town Square (the park directly in front of 100 Seneca). Each mini-mural panel is dedicated to celebrating the spirit of our region, featuring themes centered around Local Nature, Recreation, Trails, and Biking.
You will not just see the finished art. You get to watch the sketches, the priming, the brushstrokes, and every creative decision live on the spot! Even better, the artwork will not disappear once the festival ends, these four-sided monoliths will be sealed and installed in permanent locations throughout Oil City, creating a lasting legacy of public art for our community to enjoy for years to come.
