COLLAB OPEN CALL – Modern Flora

Spring is in full swing, and it is time to look at the natural world through a new lens. For our April challenge, we are moving away from traditional landscapes and into the world of contemporary botany.

The Theme: Modern Flora

This month, we are challenging you to create botanical art with a modern, unexpected twist. Forget simple vases of flowers; we want to see nature merged with technology, abstract growth, or vibrant, unnatural palettes. Think about how plants adapt to urban environments or how they might look on another planet.

Submission Deadline: April 11, 2026 Show Opens: May 1, 2026

Creative Prompts (Suggestions Only!):

• Painting: “Weird Nature.” Paint traditional flowers but distort them with your choice of distortion, neon highlights, or geometric disruptions.
• Mixed Media: Combine pressed dried flowers with industrial materials like wire, plastic, foil, or circuit parts.
• Sculpture & Jewelry: Bio-morphic shapes or jewelry that looks like it is “growing” off the body. Use non-traditional materials like resin or industrial hardware.
• Music & Audio: Incorporate organic foley sounds (leaves rustling, wood snapping, water) mixed with clean digital synths.
• Poetry: Use nature imagery as a metaphor for technology, urban life, or personal evolution.

Note: These are just starting points. Please interpret “Modern Flora” however feels right to your creative spirit!
