Description

A luminous aqua sea green trade glass ball, mounted in a hand formed spiral setting of solid sterling silver. Dangling from a solid sterling silver chain.

The design is simple and casual, centering on the beauty of the texture of the glass and the soft diffused glow that is seen when light passes through it. Hand formed spiral setting adds a touch of old world rustic beauty.

The trade glass used for this design is semi-round spherical in shape and is a soft aqua green in color, which I like to call “Sea Green”. It has a raw tumbled surface texture with some unique surface features, and is translucent (light passes through). Please read below for more info about trade glass.

This necklace is made to order and no two trade glass beads are exactly the same. Yours will be created just for you in your choice of chain length.

THE DETAILS

-Recycled/Trade glass, semi-round in shape and soft aqua green in color with a raw tumbled surface texture. Some have surface inclusions and all are translucent (light can pass through).

-I will choose a trade glass bead from my collection to create your bespoke necklace. Each one is unique and they are all beautiful.

-Trade glass bead is mounted in a solid sterling silver setting starting with a spiral design at the bottom which runs through the center of the bead and also wraps fluidly around the outside of the glass, finishing at the loop up top, holding it securely in place.

-Trade glass beads vary slightly in shape and size but are all semi-round and average 12-14mm (about 1/2″) in size.

-Pendant including top loop averages 18-20mm length (about 3/4″)

-Chain is a solid sterling silver 1.1mm cable chain with small spring ring clasp.

-Choose your desired chain length from the drop down menu. (Necklace in photos is 20″ length).

ABOUT TRADE GLASS

Trade glass beads are a type of hand formed (usually kiln fired) indigenously produced African bead created from recycled glass, using an age old process that has been around for centuries. It is sourced from sea glass, old medicine bottles, soda bottles and the like. Used as a form of token currency from the 16th-20th centuries, it derives it’s name.

The beads I use are produced primarily in Ghana West Africa. They are Fair Trade.

Size Chart

NECKLACE LENGTH GUIDELINES
  • If you already know your desired necklace length, simply select it from the drop down menu. Sizes are listed by the inch. If you would like an in between size (example 18 1/2") please select the closest size from the menu and then leave me a note at checkout requesting the size. I will accommodate the size request as closely as possible.
  • If you don't know what length you need, here's how to measure to get the proper size. Take a flexible tape measure and drape it around your neck at the length you want the necklace to lay. The measurement where the two ends meet is your necklace length.
  • If you don't have a tape measure handy, you can use a string and a flat ruler. Simply drape the string around your neck in the same way as you would with a tape measure. Pinch the string on each end where the two ends meet, and then place that section of string against a flat ruler to get your measurement.
  • You can also measure the length of a necklace you own that fits how you like in order to get your measurement, but if you choose this method please try to measure a necklace that is of a similar style to this one or at least is designed to lay the same way. Different necklace styles can fit very differently even if they are the same length measured end to end.
